Wooden lattice panels
were first developed by
the Chinese over 1000
years ago to cover their
windows and act as
protective and
decorative privacy
screens. Over the
decades countless
companies and
individuals have tried
to improve its design,
construction and
simplify its
manufacture. We have
seen latter day lattice
panels made from wood,
plastic, steel and now
aluminium. These panels
have been held together
by a variety of methods:
nails, screws, plastic
clips, rivets, welds and
of late, expensive
internal pins inserted
by expensive machinery.
|
|
All of these fixing methods
look untidy, aren’t durable and
create other problems as the
lattice panel ages. Enter the
Loc-It Research & Design team.
This highly successful team took
what we, for the last 1000 years
had taken for granted, and
thought outside the square.

|
“How
can we make the simple lattice
better in every way?” |
Instead
of nailing, screwing, welding,
riveting or pinning lattice
together let’s just slide one
blade through the other,
therefore interlocking all the
blades. How simple is that? Why
didn’t someone else think of
that, when it has been staring
us all in the face for 1000
years?

The
new Euro Adjustable Lattice from
Loc-It has been born. |
A worldwide
patent has been
taken out and
Euro Adjustable
Lattice is to be
launched into
world markets
from the
beginning of
this year.
The simple
interlocking of
the blades
solves a
multitude of
problems
currently
associated with
lattice design
and
manufacturing.
Firstly, the
lattice can now
be made from
high quality
tubed aluminium,
which is light
and strong.
Assembly is now
so simple and
inexpensive –
just slide one
blade though
another – anyone
can do it! |
 |
|
Another feature of the
interlocking blades is
the aperture size
between the blades can
be easily varied or
adjusted to suit client
needs. A smaller
aperture is used when
privacy is required or a
larger aperture for
decorative, airflow or
security issues. Our
largest aperture size
lattice is being used to
give public and private
car parks full security
with a very attractive
appearance yet still
allowing the legal limit
of airflow.

The Extended
Family of Loc-It Products. |
 |
The Simple Assembly
Solutions Research &
Design team then turned
their attention to see
what other useful
products they could
create using this
patented interlocking
system. The design brief
was to make sure all
these new products
complimented each other.
The newly designed
Loc-It range of awnings,
fences, gates,
balustrades and patio
doors all use the same
design theme, and have a
synergistic effect when
used together. They can
dramatically change the
look of your home. |
